Pick up at your hotel. Begin your day trip with a visit to Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum* containing the former President’s embalmed body, and Ho Chi Minh Museum. Next, visit the One Pillar Pagoda – Mot Cot – built by a king in 1049. According to legend, the pagoda’s shape was inspired by the lotus flower. The tour continues with a visit to the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam. It is Vietnam’s first university and was constructed in 1070. You will enjoy its well-preserved architecture and its gardens offering a relaxing walk. The sightseeing continues passing Opera House, then continue to the wonderful Hoan Kiem Lake and walk across the famous red wooden bridge to visit the Ngoc Son temple set on a tiny island. Lunch at a local restaurant where you can try the famous Pho, Vietnamese soup.
We start the afternoon trip by a visit to the Vietnam History Museum which traces the history of Vietnamese people from the earliest times to the present day. Then stop around Ham Tu Quan to enjoy a one-hour cyclo ride through the vibrant Old Quarter’s 36 streets, named after the products that were sold in each street.
Transfer back to the hotel.
*Please note that the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed in the afternoons, on Mondays and Fridays, and closes annually in September – December for restoration.
